Dolores Raimo Joins Women & Girls Fund Executive Committee

​ Dolores Raimo of Goshen has been named to the executive committee of the Women & Girls Fund of the Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation. The Fund annually awards grants that serve women and girls in the development of economic self-sufficiency by means of education, financial literacy and social services.

For 30 years, Ms. Raimo worked as both an Early Childhood Teacher and a Learning Disabilities Specialist. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Fordham University and Master’s Degrees in Early Childhood Education and Education of the Young Handicapped Child at Hunter College and The College of New Rochelle, respectively. Certified in ESL, Ms. Raimo served as a teacher representative in the New York City School system for 26 years. She is a former board member of the Hudson Valley Tourette’s Syndrome Association and former ESL support tutor for adult learners at PACE College. Ms. Raimo is president of the Goshen Garden Club.

Established as a giving circle in 1999 by a small group of women who shared a concern for the real-life needs of local women and girls, the Women & Girls Fund has awarded more than $50,000 to organizations that serve women and girls in the development of economic self-sufficiency by means of education, financial literacy and social services.

The Fund has awarded grants to support child-care scholarships for working mothers, assisted unemployed women to enter the workforce, provided transportation to working women, enhanced economic opportunities and promoted self-sufficiency for women leaving abusive relationships, and funded leadership and assertiveness workshops girls.
