Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation Moving to East Main St.
Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation Moving to East Main St. Torrington, Conn. The Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation is pleased to announce that Community Foundation offices are moving from 32 City Hall Ave. in Torrington to 33 East Main Street in Torrington. The move is scheduled to take place during the summer of 2017.
The Community Foundation has grown through the generosity of community members and the financial stewardship of staff and volunteers to $90 million in assets that supports the Northwest Corner through more than $3 million in grants and scholarships each year. The office at 33 East Main Street reaffirms the Community Foundation’s desire to recognize and honor its history by remaining in downtown Torrington and is centrally located for the convenience of Northwest Corner nonprofits, donors and volunteers.
“The East Main St. location provides a very favorable lease opportunity in the current market and the needed footprint for expansion,” said Jeffrey Lalonde, Community Foundation Relocation Committee Chair.
“The new location provides the additional office space required for a growing Community Foundation,” said Douglas O’Connell, Community Foundation Board Chair.
“The space will enable the Foundation’s staff and volunteers to effectively foster innovations and improvements in its grantmaking and philanthropic services, while expanding its work of bringing together nonprofits and community leaders to address emerging challenges in our Northwest Corner.
“The Community Foundation is thankful to Jim Rokus, owner of the office space at 32 City Hall Ave., who supported the growth of the Community Foundation with a flexible and accommodating office space for more than a decade.”
Established in 1969, the Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation serves 20 towns in Northwest Connecticut. Its total endowment, comprised of more than 250 funds, has grown from initial assets of $15,000 to more than $87 million. Last year, combined grants and scholarships totaled more than $3 million.
