Northwest Corner Gives is NCCF's crowdfunding grant round designed to help nonprofits build awareness and raise matching gifts. 

Local Impact, Grants and Scholarships in our 20 towns

NCCF donors and fundholders provide Northwest CT nonprofits millions of dollars in grants, 
and award more than $200,000 in scholarships to local students each year.

Barkhamsted

In 2023, the Northwest CT Community Foundation Douglas and Janet Roberts Fund supported the Barkhamsted Historical Society in their preservation projects of the Merrill Tavern and Barkhamsted Center Schoolhouse;

In 2023, the Town of Barkhamsted was granted support from the Northwest CT Community Foundation Douglas and Janet Roberts Fund for a feasibility study of a pedestrian bridge across the Farmington River;

In 2023, the Barkhamsted Center Cemetery Association received support from the Northwest CT Community Foundation Douglas and Janet Roberts Fund for a water system upgrade and lawn renewal;

In 2023, the Barkhamsted Youth Baseball League was supported by the Northwest CT Community Foundation Douglas and Janet Roberts Fund for the construction of a new snack shack with bathrooms at the Riverton Ballfields;

In 2023, the Connecticut State Grange Foundation, Inc. received support from the Northwest CT Community Foundation Douglas and Janet Roberts Fund for bathroom repairs and renovations at Riverton Grange Hall;

In 2023, the First Congregational Church of Barkhamsted received support from the Northwest CT Community Foundation Douglas and Janet Roberts Fund for replacing parsonage oil tanks and for the exterior painting of the church;

In 2023, the Friends of American Legion and Peoples State Forests were supported by a grant from the Northwest CT Community Foundation Douglas and Janet Roberts Fund for a documentary film in celebration of the 100th anniversary of People's State Forest;

In 2023, the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church was granted support from the Northwest CT Community Foundation Douglas and Janet Roberts Fund for roof replacement;

In 2023, the Riverton Theatre was supported by the Northwest CT Community Foundation Douglas and Janet Roberts Fund for the purchase of a shed for storing sets and costumes;

In 2023, a grant from the Northwest CT Community Foundation Pierpont Chapter #49 Order of Eastern Star Fund supported the mission of Housatonic Youth Service Bureau;

In 2023, a grant from the Northwest CT Community Foundation Buchanan Fund supported the mission of Housatonic Valley Association;

In 2023, grants from the Northwest CT Community Foundation Douglas and Janet Roberts Fund supported the Barkhamsted Historical Society’s Merrill Tavern and Barkhamsted Center Schoolhouse preservation projects and assisted First Congregational Church of Barkhamsted in the cost of exterior painting of the church, including belfry and window shutters;

In 2022, through a grant from the Northwest CT Community Foundation Elson-Slemmer Fund for the Environment, The Friends of the American Legion and People's State Forest purchased lumber to finish rerouting the Agnes Bowen Trail;

In 2021, the Northwest CT Community Foundation Douglas and Janet Roberts Fund provided a grant to aid in the repair of the roof of Squire's Tavern, a historic building that serves as a museum and the Barkhamsted Historical Society headquarters, and provided a grant to the First Congregational Church of Barkhamsted to support the cost of repairs in order to reopen the basement level community meeting hall for public use.
